Dark Delicious Decor

Now that we are leaving the bright sunny days of summer, you might be looking to revamp your interior with a more cosy vibe ready for the darker cold nights — here’s how!

The trend for moody, dark interiors has been steadily gaining tact over the past few years and with the turn of the seasons what better time to take the plunge and transform your home! And the best part? Inky hues can work for almost any interior style — antique, Scandi, boho or even MCM so have a look at some of our tips and see if it what you can do!

PAINT

The simplest and most obvious way to incorporate this look in home interiors is, of course, to get the brushes, rollers and dust sheets out and set to painting. Navy blues, emerald greens and rich purples look beautiful and add a lovely depth to a room or pull out the big guns with a deep, striking black. Don’t be scared or fall into the trap of thinking dark colours make rooms feel smaller and if this is something you are worried about, stick with one dark wall paired with a lighter neutral on the other three walls and make sure to paint the skirting boards in the same colour to give the illusion of longer walls. And if you are feeling brave — paint all four walls then paint the ceiling too!

ACCENT COLOURS

Just because you’ve gone for dark coloured walls doesn’t mean you have to have dark coloured furniture and accessories too — in fact you probably want to add in some accent colours to break up the swathes of black. Rich tones always look beautiful, think jade greens, mustard yellows and burnt oranges which will really pop against the black, especially when used on a velvet sofa or headboard to add that little bit of luxury. If you wanted a simpler vibe, you can’t go wrong with a bit of monochrome!
