Antique Pakistani Swat Valley Carved Dowry Chest

£695.00

Description
An antique dowry chest from the Dir or Swat Valley regions of the Hindu-Kush in Pakistan. The intricate carvings on the wood, including swat carvings, make it a beautiful addition to any hallway or living room. We believe the chest is made from Himalayan Cedar and is made using a jointed construction. With a hinged door mechanism to the top and iron strap work fittings, this original chest is a true antique. The chest is in good condition for its age, and we have cleaned and waxed the chest ready for its new home.
