German 18th Century Immigrants Sea Chest / Trunk

Description
An impressive, large mid 18th century solid oak, dome top chest. We believe the chest to be German in origin and was made to be admired. Its a fantastic quality piece with beautifully blacksmith made ironwork to the exterior. The chest is an extremely large size and could easily hold one persons possessions during the 18th century so this could have been used as a sea chest or an immigrants chest.

There are a few pieces of ironwork that are missing such as the hoop handle to the lower drawer, a piece of the banding and one of the large locks to the front.
